Interesting Things People Were Buried With

Despite various traditions and burial customs, funerals have been a constant reminder of loss, grief and goodbye. 

However, it was on 26th of November 1922, the tomb of King Tutankhamen was discovered endowed with ancient treasures and other wonderful things. 

There are not many individuals who are capable of saying goodbye to this world with parting gifts. 

But, there are few who were able to bring along their possessions as they take their last breath before closing their eyes into the darkness. 

Let’s have a look at those who have left this world with their material possessions in tow. 

David Brenner

Legendary funny man, comedian and The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson’s guest, David Brenner met his demise on 15th of March 2014. 

As per his request, he was buried with $100 on his left sock. The reason  for such bizarre act, “just in case tipping is recommended where I’m going.” 

Humphrey Bogart

Love did not come easy to actor and Hollywood icon, Humphrey Bogart as he was married three times before settling on his fourth and last one, Lauren Bacall. 

The couple fell in love with each other at the filming of To Have and Have Not. Slim (Bacall’s character) uttered the iconic line in the film, “You know how to whistle, don’t you, Steve? You just put your lips together and blow.” (Steve is Bogart’s character in the film.)

Bogart said goodbye to the world last January 14, 1957. His cremated remains were interred with a glamorous and expensive gold charm-bracelet whistle. 

The inscription says, “If you want anything, just whistle.” 

Whitney Houston

I Will Always Love You hit-maker and iconic singer, Whitney Houston drowned to her death on February 11, 2012. 

According to the reports following her internment, she laid to rest inside a gold-lined coffin that was valued thousands of British pounds. 

Further, she was adorned with jewelries and designer clothes worth more than 300,000 British pounds. 

Michael Jackson

The King of Pop said goodbye to this world on June 25, 2009. He brought along farewell notes from his three children. Moreover, he was buried with the iconic and the sparkly white glove the King of Pop used in his Thriller music videos. 

Bob Marley

The superstar reggae musician Bob Marley was buried last May 21, 1981. Since he was a firm believer that Marijuana is the “herb of life”, he was buried along with a Bible opened at Psalm 23, his red Gibson Les Paul guitar and a stalk of ganja. 

Frank Sinatra 

Who wouldn’t want to listen to the great oldies by Frank Sinatra? Sinatra loves Jack Daniel’s so much that it was on his stage whenever he performs. Plus, it was confirmed that when he died, he was buried with a bottle of Jack Daniel’s for him to enjoy in the afterlife. 

These are only a few among the many famous or influential people who have brought world possessions even at their deaths. 

Depending on the person, an individual may have a special request that must be fulfilled after passing and it is up to the family members to accomplish it.
