Everyone is locked up in their homes as the government is doing its best to flatten the curve of the Coronavirus pandemic. With no vaccine developed just yet, people can’t resume to what is deemed as normal. Moreover, the health authorities keep on emphasizing the importance of hygiene and a healthy immune system.

Since most people live sedentary lives and are paying little to no attention to their health, we compiled some foolproof tips to boost your immune system.

Exercise and Sweat More

Being stuck in your laptop or your phone for several hours poses a threat to your body. The body is made for moving and working. Some news articles likened the harmful effects of smoking on sitting. With this in mind, utilize this quarantine period to walk, jog, and exercise. You can browse the internet for home-friendly workout tutorials that you can follow.

Get Enough Sleep

When it comes to a robust immune system, uninterrupted and enough sleep is one significant factor. In a nutshell, sleep rests your body and prepares it for another day. When you don’t get enough sleep, your body produces stress hormones. An elevated stress level keeps you awake and compromises your immune system.

Eat Nutritious Foods

Your body needs food to function. But, you’re going to need nutritious ones not takeouts from fast-food chains. Fill your refrigerators with vegetables and fruits. Learn a new recipe and flex your muscles in the kitchen. Use this quarantine period to learn and add more value to your life. Keep in mind that what you eat is what your body will break down into nutrients. When you eat food items that aren’t nutritious, your body is getting nothing.

Immune System

Drink Lots of Water

It’s easy to get lost in the quarantine buzz that you drink fizzy sodas, overloaded caffeinated drinks, and worse, forgetting to drink water. Water is essential for keeping your body hydrated. When you’re adequately hydrated, your joints are lubricated, and your body strengthens its innate ability to ward off infections. Moreover, your body’s temperature is regulated, and water makes it easier to deliver vitamins and nutrients to cells.

Try Meditation

One factor that compromises your immune system is your stress levels. If you try to look at it, everything around us (especially right now) makes us feel immensely stressed. Whenever you feel like the negativities overwhelm you, give yourself a break and focus on your breathing. Meditation dramatically benefits your body by keeping your stress levels at a minimum.

Watch Funny Vids and Laugh with the Family

Through these trying times, it’s easy to forget how to shrug it off and take lightly of the situation. Be thankful and content that you and your family members are safe under one roof. Take advantage of the internet’s load of cute animal vids and funny fails.

As we all stay at home and do our part in flattening the curve, we recommend taking this time off to be productive and building one’s immune system. If you have more quarantine-friendly ideas, leave them in the comments section below.
